Volunteering: A Cornerstone of Our Community

Volunteering is the heart and soul of our community. It’s the unwavering support, the dedicated time, and the genuine commitment of individuals that truly make a difference. Without the invaluable contributions of our volunteers, many vital services simply wouldn’t exist.

But the benefits of volunteering extend far beyond those we serve. It’s a profoundly enriching experience for volunteers themselves. By giving back, individuals gain valuable new skills and experiences, boost their self-confidence, and experience a profound sense of personal fulfilment. Volunteering is not only a way to help others; it’s a pathway to personal growth and a stronger, more connected community.

We have a variety of volunteering roles available at Up for Yorkshire, all of which make an incredible difference and enable us to support so many more people.

We can also help match volunteer needs with volunteer availability, by putting organisations and volunteers in touch with one another.

If you are interested in volunteering or have a volunteering post that needs filling, please contact us, we’d love to hear from you.

Up for Yorkshire Volunteering Opportunities

Become a Volunteer Driver

Our volunteer car scheme supports those in our community who are most vulnerable. Volunteers use their own vehicles to provide an invaluable door to door service. Passengers feel safe and able to access appointments and places they need to be.

Without the fantastic generosity of volunteer drivers, our transport scheme cannot operate. We are in real need of more volunteer drivers to support our service.

Volunteer drivers are fully vetted, must be over the age of 25 and have at least 2 years of driving experience. Training and support are provided, as well as all mileage and out of pocket costs being covered.

Community Fridge Volunteers

Our Community Fridge Service relies on the generosity of volunteers to operate. From collecting food, to sorting, bagging and assisting the general public, there are a variety of roles available and we are always in need of more help. Please do get in touch to find out more about volunteering.
