Our Transport Scheme
Our community transport scheme provides a safe, door to door service from our fantastic team of kind and friendly volunteer drivers.
The service is open to anyone who cannot access conventional public transport, or those who do not have public transport. We aim to support the most vulnerable people in our community to feel more independent and enable them to continue to get out and about.
Easy to book, our service gets people where they need to be, when they need to be there. We will happily wait for people while they have a hospital or doctor’s appointment, or just a supermarket shop.
Currently, we have no membership fee for our transport service, journeys are charged at 45p per mile, plus a £3 booking fee.
All you need to do is call us on 01757 708036 / 01757 291111, and a member of our team will talk you through how it works.

We need your help
Without the fantastic generosity of volunteer drivers, our transport scheme cannot operate. We are in real need of more volunteer drivers to support our service.
Volunteer drivers are fully vetted, must be over the age of 25 and have at least 2 years of driving experience. Training and support are provided, as well as all mileage and out of pocket costs being covered.
Our volunteer car scheme supports those in our community who are most vulnerable. Volunteers use their own vehicles to provide an invaluable door to door service. Passengers feel safe and able to access appointments and places they need to be.
Our fantastic All-Electric Vehicle
In 2024, we were delighted to receive some incredible funding from North Yorkshire Council for an 8-seater electric people carrier. The York and North Yorkshire Net Zero Fund invests in schemes that can deliver significant carbon reductions and contribute to York and North Yorkshire’s ambition to be net zero by 2034.
This vehicle supports many of our community activities. It also provides another invaluable solution to prevent a lack of transport from becoming a barrier to accessing services. As well as supporting our service delivery, the electric vehicle is helping the charity to reduce its emissions.
