Our Zero Selby Summer Bike Rides
Our Selby Big Bike Social Rides have been a blast so far! Our next friendly, laid-back bike ride will be 27th August. Read on to find out what the Big Bike Revival is, and how it can help you socially, economically, and health-wise…
The Big Bike Revival is an initiative from Cycling UK, all about helping adults to begin or return to cycling through a programme of FREE activities and services, delivered by local community organisations – including Our Zero Selby.
Cycling is a fantastic way to travel locally. It’s healthy, social, practical, sustainable and can save you money. By encouraging more people to embrace cycling as a regular mode of transport, we aim to create a healthier, greener, and more vibrant community. Cycling offers numerous benefits, including improved physical and mental health, reduced carbon emissions and fuel costs, and decreased traffic congestion.
All of the events are designed specifically for adults who do not cycle or have not cycled for a while by offering solutions to barriers that currently prevent them from cycling.
“Last Saturday I went for a bike ride as part of the Selby Big Bike Revival. As an ‘oldie’ who’s returned to cycling this was just the ticket; great company, good route and ridden at a nice pace too. Not too far, not too fast, just right; a very nice afternoon out.
I’ll certainly be joining another ride in this series.”

We’ve kicked off the initiative with a series of friendly, traffic-free bike rides perfect for those dusting off their bikes or building cycling confidence. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist looking for a leisurely ride or a complete beginner, everyone is welcome to join the fun! Our first ride was a huge success, with a fantastic turnout and a wonderful atmosphere.
To complement our bike rides, we’ve partnered with Cogs Cycles to offer free bike repair events. We understand that a well-maintained bike is essential for safe and enjoyable cycling, so we want to help residents get their bikes in top shape.
Join us for a leisurely social bike ride, meet new people, and rediscover the joy of cycling. Let’s make Selby a more bike-friendly place together!
Our next Social Bike Ride will be Tuesday 27th August, 5pm – 7pm. Meet us at Cogs Cycles, 30 Church Hill, Selby.
Bring your bike, cycle helmet and a drink, and dress for the weather, for a traffic-free & social ride. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
